Maxims to Live By

Atrium altar

Maxims are presented in the Atrium as another way of us learning from Jesus how to live our lives. The other way, of course, is through the parables.

The level 2 children looked at the Kingdom Parables in level 1, and now they are tackling the Moral ParablesThe Found Coin, The Good Samaritan, etc.

Some of the maxims link with the parables, but it in the meditating and learning that is carried into the children’s every day lives and understanding, which ‘opens’ them up. You may wish to consider how these four the children looked at this week, plus the Summary of the Law, pan out in your daily life.

Matthew 7:3
Why do you see the speck in your neighbour’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?

Matthew 6:19-21
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume.

Matthew 6:2
So whenever you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you.

1 Corinthians 6:19
Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

The Summary of the Law

Luke: 10:27
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind.

John 13:34
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
