The Nativity comes to Masterton!
On a sunny humid Saturday evening shepherds, angels, stars and kings visited the holy family to sing, dance and deliver three gifts.
Just about all the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd children were able to come and take part in a nativity play. The scene was ‘set’ by the Angel Gabriel, aka Claudia, at the end of the sitting room while clergy Sande Ramage and Lizzie Snowsill sang a verse of Shirley Murray's carol, Where is the Room, accompanied by Mary Sanson.
Where is the room,
where is the house of Christmas?
Where shall we welcome Jesus?
And then as Lizzie and Sande sang three verses of The stars danced, the angels sang, the children, costumed very simply (what would we do without tinsel and teatowels!) came in order (very Anglican!), through the onlookers, around Boston the dog (have you noticed that Labradors always lie in the middle?) to Claudia, sorry, Angel Gabriel, and finally gathered around the manger.
The stars danced, the angels sang
the night God came to earth.
The whole vault of heaven rang
to celebrate His birth.
