Flower Duty

Taking part in the service

We have flowers at each service except through the season of Lent - and even then we do get one Sunday, Refreshment Sunday aka Mothering Sunday aka Laetare Sunday, when we take a break from the 'emptiness' that Lent has, as we prepare for the most important festival of our year.

Those rostered to do the flowers should check the colour of the season - on the roster - and be prepared for arranging them in the two medium brass containers that are in the sanctuary. If you wish to use other containers that is fine. For special services e.g. Easter, Baptism, or other high days then there is also a tall flower stand that can be used for a more resplendent arrangement. Often several will join together to do those occasions.

Generally flowers come from the arranger's garden but if in the depth of winter yours has few then there are many willing providers in the congregation - check with Liz if uncertain.

There are keys availble for access, or Saturday mornings when the church is being cleaned is a good time, or even getting to church first thing on the Sunday - we are usually there an hour before hand.

It is a wonderful ministry that those who provide us with a reminder of God's beauty in creation do - and we thank you for it.
